MAWSECO is a special education cooperative agency composed of seven member school districts: Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Litchfield, Maple Lake, and Rockford. Together, these districts collaborate to deliver exceptional special education services. The Cooperative's mission is to provide high-quality leadership, support, and resources to staff, students, and families within its member districts, as well as to other districts and agencies that utilize its services. MAWSECO’s central office is located in Howard Lake, MN, conveniently situated west of the Twin Cities metro area and south of St. Cloud.

As part of its service to members, MAWSECO operates eight alternative education programs supporting students with disabilities as well as students residing in residential programs within its member district boundaries. TREK, at the MAWSECO Education Center, is a specialized program crafted for students with significant communication or neurological challenges. Designed to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorders or Developmental Cognitive Disorders, TREK focuses on those who may face barriers in connecting with peers or adults in a traditional school setting. Through innovative strategies and tailored support, TREK creates a positive, empowering environment where every student can thrive and succeed.

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you'll be a key player in supporting students within our special education program. Your role will be as dynamic as the students you assist. 

Your Role Will Include:

• Providing personalized instructional support to meet students' unique learning needs.
• Offer hands-on assistance with daily living skills and behavior plans.
• Guide and empower students as they progress through their individual learning journeys.
• Collaborate closely with individualized lesson plans and IEP goals to ensure student success.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Meets the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional requirement or will obtain qualification within the probationary period by having one of the following:
  • At least two years of college credits (typically 60 credits in Minnesota).
  • An AA, AS, AAS, or higher degree.
  • PELSB Paraprofessional Credential.
  • Passing score of 460 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Passing scores on the Minnesota Service Cooperatives ParaEducator Proctored Test:
  • 65% or higher on the Instructional Support test.
  • 70% or higher on the Knowledge and Application test.

MAWSECO provides access to online training materials and offers proctored testing for candidates.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with special needs
• Background as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) or Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Salary and Benefits:

• 7 hours per day, 179 paid days per year
• Starting pay: $20.91/hour - $27.16/hour

Location & Shift Times:

TREK at the MAWSECO Education Center, Howard Lake, MN

• Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
